I have been busting my buns this past year, and am thrilled to announce that my debut novel, Chasing Fireflies will soon be available on Amazon (more information on release dates coming). I’ll admit, I’m a little anxious (more like terrified) but I also recognize the occasion calls for some celebration, because this has been a long time coming. To give you an idea of how long, I started conceptualizing the plot for this book in the summer of 2010, while working the garden centre at my local grocery store. Something about watering flower pots lends itself to the creative process, I guess. Back then, I wanted to write a story inspired by my own experiences in high school, and even though the book has gone through countless iterations since then, there are certain elements that have remained true to this history (more on this in later posts). This is probably why, of all the stories I’ve written, Chasing Fireflies is the one closest to my heart. Granted, eleven years is a long time to write a book, but like a fine wine, this particular story had to percolate and age in my mind for that long in order for me to get it just right. I hope you feel, as I do, that it was worth the wait.
