At this time, I just wanted to take a moment to emphasize the importance of reviews for authors.
Book reviews can be more important than you may think.
Reviews help readers determine if a particular book is something they will enjoy by giving them an opportunity to see how other readers reacted, what they liked about it, and what they didn’t. It decreases the risk of purchasing a book that might not be what they’re looking for and increases the chances of connected with a book.
However, reviews also help authors, giving books greater visibility and a greater chance of getting found by more readers. On websites like Amazon, books that have more book reviews are more likely to appear on recommended lists to prospective readers and buyers as compared to books with few or no book reviews.
In the words of Ben H Winters:
So please, if you enjoyed a book, write a review. It doesn’t have to be long or profound. It can be short and sweet, but it will make a world of difference to the person who toiled for months, if not years on the story you spent a few dollars to buy, and a day or two to read.
